Cottage user guides

Finish cottage on the lake is a very popular place to visit and always is a part of Finish traditions.

Every guest wishes to find everything in order and good condition. Everyone should realize that it all depends of our behavior and responsibility.

We kindly ask you to take care of everything in the cottage like of your own and only this helps to support the cottage in this excellent condition.

There are some important matter to follow.

1. Always check sauna’s oven is switched off after using sauna.

2. Do not take over souvenirs of other things you see in the cottage. Let other guests enjoy them.

3 !!!!!.If suddenly you break anything inform the owner immediately. Responsibility of the guests is 400 euros, the rest is covered by insurance company. Please inform us on-time if anything happened.

4. If you have used linens and towels leave them on the floor at check out.

5. Try to collect all waste inside and outside the cottage and take it with you. Big rubbish bins are in 6 km on the way to Virmutjoki on your left.

6. If you have any questions, claims, comments, you can inform the owner or leave your message in the GUESTS BOOK.

All electric control of the house is operated from the electric board ENSO. Every toggle switch has a paper note; please make sure you switch on or off the correct one.

Radiators Siemens are connected in one close circuit for having constant temperature. Every radiator has a thermostat to adjust the temperature. In summer time all radiators have to be switched off. In winter time optimal temperature is 18-20⁰C. While entering the cottage, switch on all toggle switches up.  Please note cottage has a closed water circuit system and in winter time all radiators have to be at least +8⁰C to avoid pipes freezing.

If the cottage stays empty for a long time, boiler is off and it takes 4 hours to warm the boiler. Put all toggle switchers of the boiler ON (UP).

The boiler has its own triple toggle switch on the right side of the electric board.

If boiler is off this toggle switch is up. Turn it down in the middle to start boiler, its day mode. After 10-15 minutes you could put it on the bottom (down position), it’s day & night mode – boiler works in maximum capacity.

Position 1 (UP)-OFF

Position 2 (MIDDLE)- day  mode  -half of the boiler power (or 2-3 people)

Position 3 (DOWN) -full power is activated.  (  3and more people)

PLEASE NOTE

1. 300l.boiler is enough to get shower for 2-3 people one by one, for more people make sure boilers toggle switch is in position 3 (DOWN) . After the shower make sure to return it back to position 2.

2. Bathroom is made of stone, to keep equal temperature in the cottage we recommend in cold timer keep bathroom door open.

Sauna is heated with powerful electric oven HARVIA.

      Optimal time of heating up to 80⁰C  1.5-2 hours.

      Do not exceed temperature more 90⁰C.

      Please use following steps to achieve maximum comfort.

• Open half of floor ventilation tap (near the oven)
• Close ventilation tap on the ceiling.
• Turn left button POWER to MAX position.
• Turn position “2” on the right button.
• Close the door of the sauna.
• Do not exceed 90⁰C.
• Recommended time 15 min, use sand clock on the wall
• Turn right power button “OFF”

NOTE!!!

1. Get a shower every time before using sauna.

2. Use towels or sauna disposable sauna seats

3. Use aroma drops in the oven’s stone jar only

4. Clean sauna after use.

5. Please note this oven is 8 kWt. All cottage radiators will be OFF during sauna heating. You can use chimney to warm the cottage.

Tulikivi chimney is always a proud of Finish cottage.

Chimney not only heats the cottage in cold times and keeps it warm but also gives you magic and dry warmth.

To enjoy Tulikivi chimney you just need to follow easy instructions.

• Open chimney flap(on the chimney pipe)
• Open half of floor ventilation tap
• Open down flap ( to the right)
• Light the chimney with wood or solid fire starter.
• When the fire broke out well close half of the upper flap and floor ventilation tap.
• Add only 2 short logs horizontally till previous turned into big coals.
• Turn slightly down flap (to the right) to get it completely closed after third logs additive.
• Turn accordingly upper flap to have it nearly closed
• Maximum firewood burning 4-6 hours.
• Make sure red coals turned black and close completely upper flap.

Chimney’s stone takes all the heat and start heating the cottage during 2-3 days.

Enjoy the magic and dry warmth of Tulikivi chimney.

Lake is a zone of higher danger and risk. Many people live in their houses and cottages constantly. Clearness of the lake is supported by everyone. Lake is a place of different birds migration and accommodation.

LAKE RULES

Not allowed:

1. Be at the lake without life vest. It prohibited and lead to a penalty.

2. Moving and fishing close to the houses and cottages (min-100m.)

3. Build a fire on the banks and islands of the lake-leads to a high penalty.

4. Leave waste of all sorts.

5. Fishing with rod (angling) or net. You can buy license online here www.verkkokauppa.eraluvat.fi/en/

6. Using electric rods.

7. Exceed max weight limit and capacity of the boat.

8. Bring and use 2 stroke gasoline engines (prohibited in Finland)

9. Go out and drive the boat in a state of alcohol intoxication.

10. Let go of aunaccompanied children under 16 years.

11. Check and lift fishing nets.

12. Respect the peace of the night of all Ilmajarvi inhabitatns.

Coming to spend your weekend, holidays or vocations in the Finish cottage on the Ilmajarvi lake surely means you will take a boat for fishing or family lake sightseeing.

There are also a few important things you have to know.

• Most finish lakes full of stones. Be careful, take care of yourself and avoid stones and boat damages.
• You can take paddles in the grill house. Boat scoop is in the nose of the boat.
• Use secret code to open boat’s lockers. You’ll get the code before your visit.
• Boat capacity is 380 kg (look at the label in the boat), do not exceed total weight.
• You can bring electric or gasoline (4 strike) engine with you. (up to 6-8 hp maximum)
• Always put on safety jackets  on the lake (they are in the grill house)
• Float fishing road is free in summer time in Finland, if you are angler you have to purchase fishing license. You can do it online using this link.

TAKE CARE OF THE BOAT PLEASE

Please note if you need late “check out” inform the owner about it beforehand.

Think of the guests coming after you.

Following these check out instructions help next guests find everything in order.

• Check boat paddles are in grill house.
• If you’ve used boat during your stay lock it on the pier and put code 1234 on both lockers.
• Clean all grill accessories and take away all garbage from the grill house.
• Put off lights inside and outside the cottage.
• Put all curtains down.
• Leave bathroom door open.
• Check the windows and balcony door are closed.
• Put fridge in minimum position (between 0-1)
• Look around and collect all waste and garbage after you.
• In winter time put +15⁰C on all radiators. In summer time make sure they are all off.
• Put keys in the key box and close it.
• Do not forget to take all your stuff with you.
• Put triggers on the front doors up and make sure doors are closed.
